AWARDS!!!  Southeast Alabama Regional Fly-IN 2013

Chuck Jones, one of Chapter 351's founding members, is being honored with the Charles Taylor Master Mechanic Award during the FAA Seminar at SERFI. The Charles Taylor Award recognizes the lifetime accomplishments of senior mechanics. Mr. Taylor served as the Wright brothers' mechanic and is credited with designing and building the engine for their first successful aircraft.
The award recognizes mechanics who have worked for a period of 50 years in an aviation maintenance career and since the Award's inception, just over 1800 mechanics nationwide have been so honored.
Chuck is an active member of our Chapter. His love and enthusiasm for everything aviation, particularly tube and rag antique and homebuilt planes, is contagious. He commands a wealth of knowlege about antique aircraft, engines, and their parts. The stories he tells about the people and planes he's been associated with over his career will keep you in stiches. Chuck personifies for me what's great about EAA. He's friendly, open and absolutely unselfish about passing on his love of flying and his phenomenal talent for aircraft wood and fabric work. He's truly a master craftsman.
